This was an off year for birthday parties, so for Emily's family activity, she chose to go roller skating! We went to the 'lesson' time (loved how uncrowded it was! just perfect for us!) because it was the only thing that fit into our day! Mitchell decided that crawling is a much easier way to move around the floor.... Below, Emily did a great job! We are holding hands (this was shortly before I got massively cut off and fell, twisting my ankle, which 7 weeks later is still painful to walk on - darn those ligaments that take forever to heal!!!).
We stopped to get donuts on the way home for a quick snack and then opened presents before heading...
...to the school for the carnival! She found her little buddy Mia there and they played games for a bit together. (Emily is going to die when she is older and learns that I take full-body pictures of her because I love her outfits so much!)
After a few hours at the carnival, we came home to finish the birthday cake and watch a show before Mia and her family came over for a healthy FUN dinner! We did roasted corn/black bean sasa for our appetizer - a family favorite! Then, we tried out cinnamon roll pancakes - holy cow. Super yummy but very rich! They also take a long time to bake because you have to turn the temperature down so the butter/cinnamon mix doesn't burn. Yummy, but definitely not your typical morning food! Thank you Miss Lisa for being the guinea pig!
Food with our friends!
Dinner was followed by an all-out Nerf match. It began with the dads against the kids...
...then Emily and Mia traded sides and decided to collect bullets for the dads. It was great fun, but ended in tears.
Time for cake and ice cream - that NO ONE had room for! They all ate their donuts though! Delightful birthday - thanks Friends for sharing it with us!
Emily is six!!!
