We left Utuado and drove to the east side of the island to stay in a resort there. This is the crazy driving where I thought we were going to die. I'm not really sure why then have traffic lights??? We had 2 lanes turning left. The traffic to our right had 4 lanes going straight... you following? Count - SIX lanes all merging to ONE lane...crazy!!!
We finally got to Rio Mar Beach Resort - beautiful but very windy! Everything at the resort was muchas dolares, so we went to drive around and find dinner. (The resort road is across the street from the entrance to El Yunque - a national rainforest. We didn't explore as our time was running out and I'd had enough of windy rainforesty roads.) No fantastic holes in the wall, but the we finally found coco frios - which Andy has talked about for years. It's just a chilled coconut with the top chopped off and a straw stuck in! Yummy yummy, but I couldn't finish mine! There is soooo much milk in the coconuts - many times more than the wilted fermented versions that we get in the states!
Finally found a restaurant up the hill from the resort, which you can see in the bottom left. Beautiful views. Decent food. Fantastic virgin pina coladas!!!!
